Born in Guatemala City, Estuardo Hernández has spent his life exploring different musical traditions and styles. With degrees from universities in Costa Rica, the United States, and Germany, his diverse and multicultural education has shaped a unique approach to both performance and teaching.

Brainstorm es una obra que me permite liberar mi expresión musical sin restricciones. A diferencia de muchas composiciones académicas que requieren sutileza, esta pieza me brinda la libertad de tocar con total pasión y sin inhibiciones. Disfruté enormemente interpretarla en concierto, ya que está cargada de energía, virtuosismo y un toque de sátira. De hecho, fue la pieza obligatoria en el prestigioso Concurso Van Cliburn en 2005.

Brainstorm is a work that allows me to release my musical expression without restrictions. Unlike many academic compositions that require subtlety, this piece gives me the freedom to play with complete passion and without inhibitions. I greatly enjoyed performing it in concert, as it is full of energy, virtuosity and a touch of satire. In fact, it was the obligatory piece in the prestigious Van Cliburn Competition in 2005.

At my last Konzertexamen graduation recital (the highest artistic postgraduate degree in Germany) I decided to finally play it after 13 years. El "Corrente" era la versión italiana de la danza "Courante" francesa. Era una danza originada en las cortes francesas renacentistas, bailada en pareja o individualmente. Bach introduce elementos de esta danza en esta obra, dándole su propia interpretación y estilo. Durante el reinado de Luis XIV en la corte de Francia, la danza del Courante era tan popular que se celebraban bailes secretos en los jardines de Versalles, donde la nobleza disfrutaba de esta danza bajo la luz de miles de velas y antorchas, creando un ambiente mágico y exclusivo. The "Corrente" was the Italian version of the French "Courante" dance. It was a dance originating in the French Renaissance courts, danced as a couple or individually. Bach introduces elements of this dance in this work, giving it his own interpretation and style. During the reign of Louis XIV at the French court, the Courante dance was so popular that secret balls were held in the gardens of Versailles, where the nobility enjoyed this dance under the light of thousands of candles and torches, creating an magical and exclusive. He integrated elements of argentinian folk music into the language of classical music. Me encanta Prokofiev! Estas son algunas de mis partes favoritas del concierto. Lo estaré tocando en mi prueba final de mis estudios en Halle (Saale) el 13 de septiembre. Algunos de los pasajes en esta pieza, tienen su sello personal "sarcástico", los cuales deben ser tocados con una actitud de burla, lo que sorprendentemente facilita su interpretación. Espero los disfruten tanto como yo ;)

I love Prokofiev! These are some of my favorite parts of this concerto. I will play in on the final test of my studies in Halle (Saale) on september 13th. Some passages in this piece have his trademark "sarcasm", that should be played with a mocking attitude, which surprinsingly makes them easier. Opposingly, there are other parts which have an exquisite lyricism to them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do ;)
