Childhood

Born in Guatemala City, Estuardo Hernández has spent his life exploring different musical traditions and styles. With degrees from universities in Costa Rica, the United States, and Germany, his diverse and multicultural education has shaped a unique approach to both performance and teaching.

EDUCATION

​Estuardo’s formal education began at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree. He continued his studies at Texas Christian University, earning a Master’s in Piano Performance, and later completed a second Master’s in Piano Pedagogy along with a Konzertexamen (Artist Diploma) at Martin-Luther-Universität in Germany. Along the way, he studied with notable mentors such as Zoila Luz García Salas, Dr. Alexandr Sklioutovski, Dr. Tamás Ungár, Prof. Albrecht Hartmann, and Dario Ntaca, and received further guidance from renowned musicians like Grigory Gruzman, Tatiana Zelikman, Cyprien Katsaris, and Yoheved Kaplinsky.

CONCERTS

Throughout his career, Estuardo has performed in prestigious venues worldwide. He has taken the stage at Carnegie Hall in New York and Bass Hall in Fort Worth, as well as in concert halls across Europe, Israel, and Latin America. As a soloist, he has performed with the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg New Philharmonic, and Guatemala’s National Symphony Orchestra.

PROJECTS

In Germany, Estuardo has embraced new artistic opportunities, collaborating in contemporary music festivals such as the Impuls Festival and KlangArt Vision Festival. He also toured several German cities with his four-hands piano project, “Heimat,” alongside Dr. Miho Ohki, a project supported by Neustart Kultur, highlighting his passion for both innovation and tradition.

LIFE IN BERLIN

Now based in Berlin, Estuardo balances his performance career with teaching, offering high-level piano and pedagogy instruction to Spanish-speaking students through in-person and online projects. His mission is to inspire the next generation of pianists, to follow their dream to become better musicians in a challenging and changing industry.
